September 25th 2025

Hello Norfolk,

It’s a big week. 🎉 Our brand-new website is live, packed with fresh features built just for you — from events and live music to webcams, photo galleries, movie listings, obituaries, adopt-a-pet, and more.

Add in the return of the Norfolk County Fair, urgent ways to help our community, and all the happenings across the County, and you’ve got one busy (and exciting) edition of the Insider.

Let’s get to it,
-Brad

PS. We still need writers, and want to hear from YOU. If you would like to write an article, journal, thought, story, poem, or anything else, reach out. See what our INCREDIBLE contributors wrote this week. That could be you! No experience necessary. Email [email protected] to get started.

NORFOLK’S HOMEPAGE

Well, we’ve done it. The website is launched and underway. What’s amazing is how many features we were able to include in just one week. The goal is to just keep adding feature after feature to make it the most valuable website you visit in Norfolk. We will become “Norfolk’s Homepage”.

Here are some of the features we added this week (if you don’t see something - hit refresh in your browser) :

  • Events and Live music - You don’t have to wait for Thursdays to know what’s going on!

  • Contests page - find multiple local contests all in one place.

  • Live webcams from around Norfolk

  • A community photo gallery - submit your photos to [email protected]

  • Movie Listings

  • Flyers

  • Obituaries -requested by a surprising number of people!

  • Adopt-a-pet

  • Hotline - please call and leave a message - I’m excited about this one.

We also had an INCREDIBLE response when we asked for Citizen Journalists. We’re excited to profile three articles, written by our readers, for our readers!

This site is built for you — for community, for sharing, for place. We’re excited for you to browse, discover, and even participate.

If you ever want to submit a photo, an event, or write a story (even with zero experience!), just drop us a line at [email protected]. Let’s build this together.

FAIR IS BACK

The Norfolk County Fair is back this October, bringing with it all the sights, sounds, and memories we look forward to each fall. It’s more than just an event — it’s a tradition that connects our schools, families, farmers, and community spirit. From cheering in the grandstand to tasting your favourite Fair food, these are the moments that make the Fair truly, uniquely Norfolk.

🌟 Five Traditions That Make This Fair Unique

🎓 Young Canada Day — Tuesday, Oct 7
Norfolk’s schools take over the grandstand with cheer squads, tug-of-war, and road races. Loud, spirited, and 100% Norfolk.

🐄 Ag Awareness Program — Oct 8–10
Since 1990, every Grade 4 student in Norfolk has come to the Fair to meet farmers, animals, and food producers. Hands-on ag education at its best.

🍎 The Food Tradition — Daily, Oct 7–13
Legendary cinnamon buns, pogos, fresh-cut fries, smoked meats, and local specialties. For many families, Fair food is THE tradition.

🚜 Five Nights of Motorsports — Oct 7–13
The grandstand shakes every night with roaring engines, flying dirt, and high-octane action:

  • Tue – FMX World Tour – Stars of Freestyle Motocross

  • Wed – Edge Motorsports Destruction Demolition Derby

  • Thu – Monster Madness Monster Trucks

  • Sun – OTTPA ‘Grand Daddy’ Tractor Pull

  • Mon – Edge Motorsports Destruction Demolition Derby

🎠 World’s Finest Shows Midway — Daily, Oct 7–13
